Elie (Golf House Club)
Elie

A classic Fife links at Earlsferry and Elie in the East Neuk — par 70 with sixteen par 4s, two par 3s and no par 5s — famous for the submarine periscope in the starter's hut used to check the blind opening fairway is clear.
The Golf House Club was established in May 1875, taking its name from the golf house (clubhouse) begun that year and completed in 1877, though golf was played over the Elie links long before. The course was largely shaped by Old Tom Morris and James Braid. The periscope in the starter's hut came from the Royal Navy submarine HMS Excalibur.
