History & Heritage

Kingsbarns Golf Links is a modern masterpiece built on the site of a course that existed from 1793 to 1850. The current course, designed by Kyle Phillips and opened in 2000, quickly established itself among Scotland's elite. Built on a stunning clifftop site overlooking the North Sea, Kingsbarns combines dramatic coastal holes with excellent inland golf. The course is part of the Dunhill Links Championship alongside St Andrews and Carnoustie, hosting European Tour professionals annually.

The 12th "Cambo Burn" is a stunning par 3 played from an elevated tee to a green set against the sea. The 15th "Kittock Burn" runs along the clifftop with spectacular views. The 7th "Byre" is a drivable par 4 with risk-reward drama. The closing stretch from 14-18 plays along the coastline and ranks among Scotland's finest. The 6th "Dell" drops dramatically downhill to a green in a natural amphitheater.
