Royal Dornoch - Struie

A well-bunkered short hole. Aim for the middle of the small green — anything short may roll into the valley on the right.

Two tee options: a long carry over the burn sets up a wedge and a birdie chance, while a shorter drive leaves a mid-iron to an undulating green.

A long par 4, often into the wind. Drive just left of the right-side bunkers and aim for the middle of the long, narrow green.

A wide fairway — use the lone tree right of the green as your line. A long iron or wood into a two-tiered green makes distance control key.

Trees left and water right. The shallow green slopes back to front, so favour the front edge.

A straight hole with trouble on both sides. Driving down the left half eases the approach; take extra club as a long shot catches the mound and rolls back.

A tricky par 3 needing a long iron to a narrow front opening. Err short — long leaves a difficult chip from behind.

The longest hole on both courses; the wind often makes it unreachable in two. Lay up on the right for a clear view of the green.

A scenic par 3 with Firth views and bunkers on both sides. Avoid going long — the front edge is often the play.

Runs alongside the Firth. A straight drive is essential before a long approach to an undulating green framed by Struie Hill.

A short par 4 where the fairway narrows about 50 yards from the green. A drive of around 200 yards leaves a short wedge.

Just over 200 yards to a two-tiered green — with the pin at the back, take plenty of club to avoid a tough two-putt.

Split the right fairway bunker and avoid the gorse on the left; if laying up, stay right. The green is undulating.

Doglegs right to left, so a drive down the left shortens it. Attack the split-level green but don't go long — out of bounds lies beyond.

A short par 4 with an old stone dyke on the left. A drive of over 200 yards reaches the flat part of the fairway for a short approach.

Plays away from the clubhouse. Drive right, where the fairway slopes right to left, and aim for the left side of the green, which feeds to the centre.

Reachable in two for longer hitters. Drive left to avoid the right-side bunkers; when laying up, favour the right.

A short, slightly uphill finish. The green slopes back to front, so avoid the front third and aim for the centre.
