'The County' — a gently undulating, easy-walking links on the shore of Luce Bay at Glenluce, with views to the Galloway Hills. Several holes run along the bay and the back nine is considered the more varied.
Golfers from Glenluce and Stranraer leased 65 acres at Mains of Park in 1894 — today's holes 1–4 and 14–18 — and the course opened on 28 March 1894, launched by Sir Herbert Maxwell MP, with nine holes by Prestwick professional Charles Hunter. The club bought the land in 1966 for £2,000, acquired 45 more acres in 1978 for holes 5–13 designed by W. Gordon Cunningham, and the full 18 holes were officially opened on 30 May 1987.

The 14th, 'The Mains', a short par 4 to an elevated green bunkered on both sides — the pick of the holes; plus the 4th 'St Helena', 6th 'Blackthorn' and 15th 'Piltanton', all running along the bay.
