A short 18-hole links at Southend at the tip of Kintyre — 'cows, electric fences and wonderful holes with sea views', with Dunaverty Rock looking on from the opening green.
Founded in 1889 by a small circle of farmers and townsfolk from Southend; the first course had eighteen holes, one sitting where today's 15th lies. Before the Second World War the course was redesigned and extended, and after wartime neglect Colonel Taylor, son of a founder, led volunteers to restore it. The great Belle Robertson — Scottish and British Women's champion and Curtis Cup player — grew up on a nearby farm and learned her golf here.
