Cruden Bay was designed by Old Tom Morris and opened in 1899, built by the Great North of Scotland Railway Company to attract tourists. The course sits on magnificent linksland with towering sand dunes and dramatic elevation changes. Tom Simpson made significant changes in the 1920s. The course fell into disrepair but was restored and modernized in 1999. Today it's recognized as one of Scotland's hidden gems, offering spectacular golf in a remote and beautiful setting.
Signature Holes
The 14th "Bluidy Burn" is a short par 4 with a burn crossing the fairway and a plateau green - risk-reward at its finest. The 4th plays through a dramatic valley of dunes. The 6th climbs to the highest point with panoramic views. The 13th is a long par 3 to an elevated green surrounded by dunes. The 15th offers another drivable par 4 with danger lurking everywhere.

Designed by Dr. Martin Hawtree, the course was built on a spectacular dunescape with some of the highest sand dunes in Scotland. Despite environmental controversies, the course quickly gained recognition for its dramatic design and world-class conditioning. The course features massive elevation changes and stunning views across the North Sea.

The 1st hole plays from an elevated tee across massive dunes. Several holes climb to the highest points offering panoramic views. The coastal holes feature dramatic drops and carries over natural valleys. The course features some of the most dramatic elevation changes in Scottish golf.
